Something that surprises exactly nobody who recently played Wild Hearthstone, Warrior remains popular. So popular that the Questline Warrior deck (Pirate Warrior) takes the #1 spot in terms of popularity with over 3200 recorded games. To put in perspective just how obscene that is, the archetype, on its own, makes up for 12.9% of ALL decks in the format in the diamond to legend ranks.

Despite the endless nerfs and even the banning of the Questline from Warlock, the class remains among the three most popular classes, accounting for 23% of decks played in the Legend ranks. Even Reno Warlock continues its reign as the new best-performing Warlock archetype. The Even Reno archetype makes up over 60% of the Warlock class and over 10.5% of decks on the Wild ladder.

The Shaman Class continues to lose a significant amount of popularity as the meta establishes itself around the three core decks. In the diamond to legend bracket, the Shaman class makes up only 6.9% of decks. Currently, the most successful Shaman archetype is the aggressive Murloc Shaman at 54.3% WR across a sample of around 500 games. Similarly, the Reno Shudderwock Shaman archetype sees a similar amount of action, with a noticeably lower win rate. While the difference in win rate is partly because aggressive decks are naturally easier to pick up than control decks, things aren’t looking that good for Thrall.

Despite the seemingly endless variety of Rogue archetypes, one deck stands out among the others. Pillager Rogue is the strongest Rogue archetype available in the current meta, with a win rate of 52.4% over a sample of around 800 recorded games. While that isn’t anything to be proud of compared to the main three, the class shows signs of life after a rough period during the Questline Warlock meta.

Shadow Priest is making a return! After a somewhat disappointing showing last Datadecks, the archetype finds itself with a win rate of 56.9%, up from 52.7%. Shadow Priest’s strength comes from its matchups into popular classes like Mage and Warlock while holding its own against Hunter. However, the main weakness of the deck is the Questline Warrior archetype, which is one of the toughest matchups you’ll face in the current Wild meta if you try the deck.

Despite Paladin’s decent win rates, the class continues to be forgotten by most of the Wild Hearthstone community. While the archetypes work to climb on the Wild Ranked Ladder, the decks just aren’t interesting to play. Decks like Handbuff, Murloc, and Odd Paladin are all decent choices to play, but winning through consistency just doesn’t appeal to players like it once did.

Mage continues to fight with most of its popularity stemming from the Ignite Mage archetype. The deck can OTK players as early as turn four or five under the right circumstances. The deck continues to become more controversial as players resort to using alternative Hearthstone clients and other tools to gain unfair advantages when playing the deck. We won’t go into detail about how that works, but we do hope Blizzard takes action against the players abusing these bugs to gain unfair advantages soon.

Questline Odd Hunter continues to crush players’ hopes and dreams of playing fun decks in the Wild Hearthstone format, as the second-most popular archetype maintains a win rate of over 60% through a sample of almost 3200 recorded games. The decks’ only bad matchups are the ever-powerful Celestial Alignment archetypes, which don’t nearly have the popularity to put a dent in the success of Questline Odd Hunter.

Despite Druid’s strong matchups into the most popular archetypes in the Wild Hearthstone format, the popularity isn’t there yet. One key reason is Druid’s poor matchup into the Warlock class, with most notably the Reno Warlock archetypes, including many forms of combo-disruption. The Celestial Alignment Druid decks deserve more attention from the Wild community, even if it’s just to take out some of the Hunter players making the ranked experience as frustrating as many find it nowadays.

As with every Wild report, there just isn’t a lot of good to report for Illidan. The class continues to plummet further and further with each passing week, only making up for 1.1% decks in the Diamond to Legend bracket and being even less popular in the legend ranks at only 0.9%. In the past two weeks of data, there are no Demon Hunter decks with any notable success. For those looking to revive the archetype, we included the “best” performing archetypes below.
